Connecting Through Community Cafés
17/3/2026
Community Cafés are designed to help reduce isolation and bring people together in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
They provide an opportunity to:
• Connect with others impacted by PBC
• Share conversation and community
• Learn about the services and support available through the PBC Foundation
We host both in-person and online Community Cafés, giving people different ways to connect.
In-person cafés are hosted by staff or volunteers, and online cafés are hosted by staff.
What Community Cafés are not
Community Cafés are friendly social meet-ups.
They are not:
• A place for medical advice
• A crisis support service
• Held in a volunteer or registered service user’s home
These boundaries help ensure cafés remain safe, comfortable and accessible spaces for everyone.
How Community Cafés are advertised
Upcoming cafés are shared through several channels:
• The Events section of our website Events
• The PBC Foundation App
• For in-person cafés, email invitations sent to people living in the local area
• For online cafés, email invitations sent in line with our communication preferences – coming soon!
To receive event information, please make sure your contact details and communication preferences are up to date.
Attending a Community Café
To help cafés run smoothly, we ask attendees to register in advance.
You can register by:
• Completing the registration form linked in the event listing
• Calling the Foundation office
• Emailing info@pbcfoundation.org.uk
If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know so we can update the attendance list.
This helps us plan and ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone attending.
Staying in touch
To help support our volunteers, in-person Community Café Hosts are not contacted directly.
All communication is managed through the Foundation. This keeps things simple, consistent and supportive for everyone involved.
Support from the Foundation
If you need support or have questions about PBC, our helpline service is always available.
The helpline is run by trained staff and provides a safe and confidential space to talk.
Community Cafés are just one of the ways we bring people together — helping ensure that nobody affected by PBC feels alone.
